Hello! My name is Adam Hewitt, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Missouri. I have been with BetterHelp since 2021 after spending several years in private practice as a mental health therapist and substance abuse counselor. I've always been passionate about helping people overcome their challenges. When it comes to therapy, I like to keep things friendly and honest. I will never talk down to you or make you feel like a burden. I find it incredibly rewarding to see the joy on people's faces when they realize just how strong they can be, whether it's facing their fears, overcoming addictions, or taking control of their lives.

As for my therapeutic approach, I focus on your strengths. I believe that everyone has innate abilities that can help them achieve their life goals, and it is my job to help you find yours. I take a mindfulness based approach, and am very sensitive to how technology and culture intersect to make our lives more complicated. I've worked significantly with people dealing with trauma, substance and gaming addiction, and systemic oppression. My aim is to help individuals become empowered to go out into the world feeling in charge of their lives.

This guy knows what’s up. I’ve gone through many therapists and Adam is the only one that’s truly been able to help. My first time ever having therapy was with Adam. He has been extremely helpful, understanding and professional. His attention to detail and unique ability of combining bits of information to create the full picture makes him a pleasure to talk to. Adam is the best therapist I've ever had, and I've had a few. He listens, engages the topic at hand (and me) in a way that feels relaxed but very attentive to detail. The thing I love the most about working with Adam is that it doesn't make therapy feel like work, like a burden I have to carry. The conversation flows, I feel free to direct it into the territory I want to cover, but I also know that Adam will offer challenges to my way established way of thinking (in a good way!) and advice on ways to reframe my thinking when I am getting myself stuck in a rut - even within a session. Adam's been very helpful in only a few weeks. Very appreciative of his professionalism and caring, engaging approach.
