I have been active in crisis response/resolution, initial diagnostics/treatment planning, individual and group therapies focusing on impulse control, depression/anxiety coping skills, decision - making/organizational skills. Michael is by far the best therapist I've ever had. Even though, I was a bit reserved with him in the beginning - I stuck with the therapy and it paid off. I can hear actually still hear his suggestions in my mind and have found practical ways to incorporate his strategies into my life. He always was reassuring and forgiving even though I struggled to fulfill the tasks. But I think I can imagine that doing the worksheets he suggested would have been certainly helpful! That being said, as a good student, I took notes and tried my best to follow through. Takeaways: Mindfulness Focused Breathing Going to your 'happy place' Making your environment as pleasurable as possible (especially for difficult tasks, conversations or situations) ex. the 5 senses - nice smells, sounds, visuals Lowering your expectations Set goals of 3-5 tasks for a week (not 10 for every day) Getting outside and away from distractions Beyond this, I have really found that him to be a gentleman. Always professional, never condescending. This intelligent yet unpretentious quality is absolute gold. I will return for his support in the near future, should I need it!
