Connecting with Dr. Hunter has been such a blessing. She is a fantastic listener and a great example of what a clinical sounding board should be. I feel like she cares about me as a person, and that’s what I wanted in a therapist whenever I came to Pride Counseling.

I am a seasoned counselor that has a genuine passion for helping others improve their quality of life by identifying appropriate coping strategies, skills & techniques that can be used to decrease areas of concern. Evidenced based talk therapy & psycho-educational information are combined to best meet your needs.

My training & career experience spans across both education & mental health counseling. I use CBT, DBT, mindfulness and other effective modes to create an individualized plan for you.

I received 3 of my 4 degrees from Texas Tech University. I have a Master’s in Counseling and in Education, as well as a Doctorate in Educational Psychology. I hold 2 state licenses; community counseling & chemical dependency. I have worked in a variety of settings including; private practice, clinics for groups, integrated health care clinics, state facilities, university campuses and remotely. Through all these different modes of counseling, I have discovered that my calm personality, professional presentation and genuineness have helped me provide a confidential, safe place where people can be themselves and share their thoughts, feelings & concerns without feeling judged. No matter what the setting or population is, I have found that compassionate caring, active listening, & supportive encouragement are important qualities of a counselor. I am available for appointments.

I have spent 6 years of my life trying to find a therapist that will listen to me with zero judgement. I have found through the years that many therapists say that they are non-judgemental, yet they react in a judgemental way. With Dr. hunter, I haven't felt a single ounce of judgement from her. I am able to talk about things that I've never felt comfortable sharing with anybody. She is a life saver and a real gem of a human being.

After one meeting , I’d probably ask her to have brunch. Very sweet and honest. I really respect her honesty, firmness with Southern Charm paired with talent/education. I can be rough around the edges and she softened me up. I felt less nuts after talking with Dr. Hunter and really felt I could be myself.
