Emily Myers is awesome! She gives me tools to feel empowered when my anxiety and depression rears its head. Since I started my better help therapy, I rarely have to take Xanax for panic attacks anymore. Emily has helped me with my procrastination at work and at home. She has helped me improve my relationship with my sister, and I feel more confident when I one on one meetings with my boss. 5 out of 5 stars!

Hello! My name is Emily Myers and I am a licensed professional clinical counselor through the state of Ohio. I have over 14 years in the counseling profession and over 20 years of work experience in customer service or a helping occupation. I graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. I taught preschool for a few years and decided to go back for my Master's in Community Counseling from the same university. I graduated in 2009 summa cum laude. Since then, I have held a variety of positions in the counseling field including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, children and family centered jobs. I tend to have an eclectic approach to counseling based on what the client is wanting from the services. I use a lot of client centered, solution focused, and cognitive behavioral techniques. My sessions are always client driven with what the client is wanting to discuss or work on at that time. I'm excited to have this opportunity to work with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Emily has been my saving grace. I was really struggling when I first saw her. I can usually pull myself out of a funk, but this time I was really stuck. It just took a couple of sessions with her to help me feel better and regain my footing. She is kind and caring, but not afraid to tell me when I'm being ridiculous (in not so many words :) ). She has been so helpful to me!

Emily really hears me when I talk. There's no judgement and in her responses she's mindful, understanding and compassionate. She never pushes me beyond comfort and is always so genuine in our conversations. I cannot recommend her enough. Working with her only a relatively short time, she has already helped me in many ways and I am forever grateful.

I think it’s a little early for this survey, but my initial interactions have been helpful. I definitely have hope for a healthier mental and emotional future. We’ve barely begun to scratch the surface though.

Emily is conscientious, and does well at not moving into a conversation beyond my comfort level. She has been kind and encouraging. She offers alternatives, but isn’t judgmental.

Reviewed June 2022

I’ve been to therapy prior but didn’t really feel as though I ever made lasting progress—it was all very fleeting. I really appreciate Emily’s client centered approach, as this truly is the basis of her therapy style. It allowed me to ask for help to understand things I was really struggling with. I appreciate Emily’s kind approach even if she was holding me accountable or challenging my thoughts/processes. Anyone would be lucky to have Emily within their care team—she’s fantastic!
