Hello and welcome. My name is Mary "Jane" Poulson and I go by "Jane". Thank you for reviewing my profile. I know how difficult it can be to reach out for help and even more challenging to find a therapist who feels comfortable enough to trust and share our problems, conflicts, or emotional pain with. I am here to provide support, assist you with processing and offer tools to help you manage and possibly resolve some of life's challenges. I have more than 25 years of post-graduate experience in the behavioral health field working with adolescents and adults specializing in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and trauma while being compassionate and respectful. I am a graduate of Gonzaga University with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and I completed my undergraduate program in Psychology at the University of Oregon. I have been a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (#LH00005937) since 2001, a Children’s Mental Health Specialist since 2000 and a National Certified Counselor (#43150) since 1995. My therapy style is down to earth and interactive providing counseling as a facilitator and educator. My approaches include, but are not limited to, Client-Centered, Solution-Focused, evidenced-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and teaching mindfulness skills to decrease and manage symptoms while providing a supportive, safe therapeutic environment. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each individual. I am also experienced working with grief and loss, post-partum depression, other mood disorders, LGBTQ focus, attention problems, chronic pain, communication and relationship problems, job stress or other life issues. It takes courage to ask for help, so if you think I could be a good match please reach out and we'll work together to improve the quality of your life. I look forward to meeting you. Be well. Jane Poulson, MA, LMHC, LPC, NCC

Empathetic, good listener, insightful feedback
Very helpful and listened to what was wrong and guided me with a few well asked and well timed questions. Didn't point out the problem, but found ways for me see it instead. Words to echo in my head when I make decisions or when things come up.
Jane is a phenomenal therapist, she’s extremely attentive and offers advice specific for my current situation. Jane has a variety of therapeutic techniques that she has helped implement during our sessions. I feel like I’ve become a better person, I’m more able to manage the anxiety experience, and I genuinely feel like the Techniques that she has taught me are able to be implemented in my daily life.
She is a great asset in creating a life I want and need. I'm still working on myself but she is there, helping me along. I really lucked out in finding her!
She’s amazing! If I go off topic to avoid an issue she has a few ways of bringing me back to the issue at hand. That way she can help me get through the process of understanding both the issue as well as how to stop avoiding issues instead of discussing them. I’ve learned a lot from her.
I love working with Jane. She is very caring and helpful in my healing journey.
Jane has been an extraordinary help to me in managing life and work stresses suggesting proven tools. She listens, is compassionate, and doesn’t judge. I couldn’t recommend Jane and her skills enough!
Jane is a good listener who also has great suggestions for changing things to get to the results you want. She’s also very compassionate & really seems to understand what I’m saying. She’s also very prompt at responding to my journal entries as well as questions. I think she’s great!
Jane was great. I have improved significantly with her advice and discussions and materials she shared with me.
I really enjoy working with Jane. She is a very good listener, is very kind and offers great advice. I look forward to our sessions.
I’ve only just begun working with Jane, just two sessions, but I find her very supportive, compassionate, and yet objective. I love speaking with her.
I have had three sessions with Jane. She is a great listener. I have made great progress in a short time with her suggestions, guidance and material she has asked me to read. I am very happy with my progress.
Jane has been an incredible therapist and confidant after what was a very troubling and depression-laden period in my life. She was always kind, attentive and personable, and I valued her input, thoughtfulness and attitude when it came to my problems, both big and small. I would highly recommend her to those seeking virtual therapy that seems personal and "in-person" and I am grateful for the time I was able to meet with her!
Jane is great! I’ve been seeing her for awhile and have made so many strides with her assistance
She's exceptionally passive which is actually really nice. She gives me time to talk, and is always on the cautious side of her word choice which really helps me. Certain phrases make me remember things I'm hurt by or scared of, and I can tell she's instinctively sensitive to that. I can tell she tries very hard for me, and I appreciate her. She's helped me a lot, and I enjoy talking with her
Jane helps me so much. I feel safe with her to really process and grow. She is amazing!
Jane helped me identify some harmful patterns and also helped me see that I need to prioritize some things I hadn’t been. Highly recommend her!
Very courteous, helpful and good listener with exercises that help you focus and maintain a good headspace.
I find her extremely compassionate & helpful at giving me advice on what I can try to improve my life. She’s very good at giving me helpful suggestions for me to improve myself
I started speaking with Jane about a month or so ago. We developed a solid rapport and I always feel seen and heard by her, especially now during a rough crisis and turning point in my life. The way she speaks slowly and gently feels like taking a walk with a good friend. Even through a computer screen or a phone call, she is more than able to empathize effectively and connect with you. I highly recommend working with her.
I had a mountain of stress and anxiety, and after some sessions, Mary Jane Poulson helped me achieve my goals, which were to be more present & peaceful and improve my family relationships. She is the best.
Very nice and chill demeanor. Easy to get along with
I love Jane. She helps me feel supported and comfortable to talk about my issues.
The therapy is great but the video calls are buggy and unreliable. It's really frustrating when I'm in the middle of some deep emotional work and the call cuts out multiple times while I'm talking.
Jane has been incredibly helpful in helping me explore some of the mental health struggles I’ve been having. She is very receptive and welcoming, and creates an environment in which I feel comfortable discussing how I feel. She will work with you to explore solutions to your mental health challenges and provide resources to help navigate them. She has been so helpful to me and I recommend her to anyone who’s looking for a good therapist.
I have been pleased with the help Jane offers and her understanding of what I am trying to work on for myself. She does a good job in addressing my needs and giving me ideas how to work on certain issues.
Jane is an amazing therapist. She listens to me and understands the issue and gives practical advise that I was able to follow in the past. Thanks!
I've only had one session with Jane, due to my ever changing work schedule, and now moving to California. If it wasn't for my relocation to another state, I would've continued to work with Jane. She seems very knowledgeable in her work, and I think I would've benefited greatly from her.
Very enjoy her , feel comfortable to talk to
She has helped me identify harmful patterns in my behavior and has offered me solutions that have been easy to implement in my day-to-day life. I am grateful for her guidance.
I am very comfortable with Jane and feel like I can tell her whatever and she listens and gives me good advice
Jane Poulson is very attentive, professional, and just wonderful. I appreciate her time.
Jane was understanding and had practical suggestions I could work on.
Thank you for all of your help.
Jane is awesome.
thank you for not giving up on me
In just a few sessions Jane has helped me begin to work through some traumatic childhood experiences that had previously been unaddressed. She's helped me not just face those memories and emotions without feeling overwhelmed, but to see them from a new perspective that makes those experiences easier to live with. I've always been afraid to talk about these things with anyone, but she immediately made me feel supported and safe to express them. I'm looking forward to working with her more.
