More about Heather

  • 8 years' experience

Hi! My name is Heather and I am a licensed professional counselor in Georgia with over 8 years of experience working as a counselor. I have worked with clients of all ages with a wide range of concerns including trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, domestic violence, substance abuse, and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical and/or emotional trauma and/or abuse in their lifetime. I strive to meet my clients where they are, focusing on their strengths and empowering them to make the changes they see fit rather than prescribing issue or diagnosis.

I value treating each individual client with the respect they deserve. Placing emphasis on developing a relationship with my clients that is based on warmth, trust, respect, and genuine care and concern. The ease of conversation is client driven, casual and conversational.

Many people seek out therapy because, despite their best efforts to change, they might end up in the same cycles...cycles of anxiety, depression, parenting issues, relationship struggles, isolation, procrastination, workaholism...the list goes on and on. People often wonder "why can't I just *change*?" These cycles of behavior are driven by our life experiences and sense of self and others. Together, we will explore these ideas so that we can begin to create understanding of our motivations and create space for newer positive behaviors creating an environment of peace, joy, contentment, health, and fulfillment.

Whether you are seeking change for a healthier happier life, or just need a non judgmental ear to listen, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
