I am a licensed clinical social worker, NC License #C008512 and I have been practicing since 2010. I use a strengths-based approach, focused on the goals you want to work on and provide support to reinforce the bridge between logic--"what I should do" and heart--"what I want to do". Assistance with processing how your feelings or beliefs effect your thoughts which produce behaviors and recognizing when those patterns no longer serve you. Once these patterns are identified, the primary focus will be on the problem solving, learning to look at situations in a new way and using more positive responses. I believe in a conversational style of session with plenty of attention paid to listening, questions and feedback. Life is difficult. Yet we all strive to be as happy as we can given the obstacles and challenges we must face. Everyone needs occasional or ongoing guidance and support to deal with fears, worries, conflict or changes. While we can't avoid life's difficulties, we may be able to reduce suffering. Developing better coping skills, being mindful of self-defeating thinking patterns, and knowing we are not alone can enhance life and help open up solutions to new and old problems. I want to help you become more resilience. I have worked with adults around issues of stress, anxiety, depression, worries, dilemmas, poor self-esteem, mood disorders, ADHD and transitions. I adapt my approach to each individual but generally utilize motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy approaches, solution-focused therapy, DBT, EMDR, trauma focused, psychoeducation, anger management, existential and experiential therapy. As a parent I can appreciate the challenges of raising children. I have contracted with the Department of Defense.
