Hi there! My name is John, but everyone calls me JT. I've been a therapist here in Ohio since 2008 and I have expertise primarily in addictions, depression, and anxiety/stress. I have a masters degree in clinical counseling from Cincinnati Christian University and I love what I do.

My counseling style is relaxed and non judgmental, while also not being afraid to gently confront clients when contradictions are noticed. I'm well trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, and more.

I look forward to

JT was awesome! Being a first timer with counseling I was extremely nervous to start this process and open up about my deepest insecurities. JT put those fears to rest and provided me with tangible strategies to implement right away. I immediately noticed a difference in myself and have become a better person, husband, and father as a result of this.

“My guy John” (as family and friends know him) and I have been discussing life and managing my mental health for about a year now, and I am truly so thankful I started with BetterHelp. He’s been a great listener and problem solver when needed. He gives good tips on managing my anxiety and perfectionism tendencies and is always available. He gives honest feedback, is very affirmative when necessary, but also challenges me and my ways when appropriate. We discuss many things and he’s easy to talk to. I appreciate his outside perspective and reframing methods. I’ve become an advocate for therapy because of my awesome experience with him.

John (J.T.) has been so awesome and helpful at a time in my life when I just wasn't able to pull myself out of anxiety/depression alone. I wouldn't have stopped meeting him if it wasn't for me moving out of state/beyond his licensure territory. Would recommend him for sure!

John is an excellent therapist. I was a more than a little skeptical to give better help a try but I cannot begin to explain how relieved I am to have been matched with John.

I’ve tried therapy before and never saw a benefit from it until I started with John. I looked forward to my conversations because he gave me a space where I never felt judged, and always felt validated. I cried, I laughed, and took his advice and was able to incorporate it into my life. He supported me, made me see the good in myself, but also brought behaviors to light that I could work on. He is a great therapist and I would highly recommend!

JT is an excellent counselor. He’s always there to provide a quality external opinion. He responds to messages fast and really listens. He’s also able to break down parts of situations very well to help me better understand them. Highly recommend.

John is a great therapist and helped me so much with my relationship with alcohol. I was really stuck and set in my ways and John brought a unique perspective to my issues. He has so much experience and knowledge from it that I would highly recommend that anyone with an substance use concern should consider seeing him.

I always look forward to my sessions with John, I feel very supported and respected. I am given a clear space to share what I need to and to rant about or just to communicate. I am given honest feedback and presented with ways of thinking about situations in which I had not anticipated myself. I’m always met with a gentle approach and our time feels very personalized and focused on making me see situations in a new light to get me unstuck in my way of thinking.

Reviewed July 2022

Very honest, if you are in the wring then he tells you and gives you advice on how to handle situations. I recommend him, he has helped me so far and it's been about 2 weeks.
