More about Gaynell

  • 17 years' experience

My name is Denise Hill; I am a Therapist and Addiction Counselor with 17 years of experience working with a range of client populations. My clients may struggle with anxiety, depression, managing stress or working thru stage-of-life difficulties, or have identified that alcohol &/or drugs are having more influence in their life than they’d prefer or are resulting in negative consequences on relationships, school/work performance, or in negative feelings about themselves. Regardless of my clients’ age, stage in life, race or ethnic identification, one of my first objectives is to assist them in identifying their current concerns or roughly outlining what they hope to achieve by participating in therapy. Another of my early goals is to begin the process of building a trusting and positive therapeutic rapport with each client I see so that we can make the best use of our therapeutic time together.

I use a range of modalities throughout the therapeutic process which include interpersonal therapy, brief psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing (MI) and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT).

I’d like to point out to potential clients that once they’ve taken the steps to initiate therapy then they’ve already accomplished what to many is the hardest part – consider yourself courageous for identifying there is something in your life for which you’re seeking assistance then deciding to reach out to obtain professional assistance.

If you’re ready to move forward with your identified intention then I am here to support and empower you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
