I graduated Pace University with my Master's Degree as Licensed Mental health Therapist and Substance Abuse Counselor. I do not believe in a One Size Fits All approach to therapy as each individual has specific treatment needs as each person's experiences and emotional impact from those experiences are unique to that individual. It is a tall order to help someone feel better in whatever way "better" is for the individual, even taller when you're someone who is expected to do so by others. I've long since shed my shyness around telling a therapist my deepest thoughts, though I always remain a little apprehensive that the way I communicate presents as long-winded and resistant, and it's a calming feeling to know that there's someone who understands--or at least doesn't judge--the fact that I'm not trying to be difficult. I'm just trying to feel better.
