More about Lorri

  • 17 years' experience

I am a licensed clinical social worker with 17 years of therapy experience working with children, teens, families, and adults.

My style is engaging, calm, and I want to make sure we build a strong rapport. I truly believe the research that says that the strength of the therapeutic relationship is the strongest predictor of the outcome of therapy. I am strengths based, believing that we are each the experts on our lives, we just sometimes need someone to walk along beside us during hard and confusing times. It is a privilege to walk with people in those times and watch them find healing.

I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy and Written Exposure Therapy both are evidence based practices to help adults with trauma. I am also trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is an evidence based trauma treatment for children. For Depression and Anxiety I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have worked with families of children ages 4-17, children with diagnoses of ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD as well as self harm, suicidality behaviors, and attachment issues within the family. I have worked with adults who have childhood and adult trauma as well as self harm and suicidality, as well as life changes such as divorce, marital issues, issues w/ adult children. I have a passion for working with persons in the LGBTQIA community, with a special focus on transgender issues.

Coming to therapy, talking to someone you don't know is scary but therapy can truly be a place of comfort and healing. I want to help you find that place.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

She is amazing

Reviewed November 2022

Lorri is a great listener. She offers clarifying questions and helps me think through complicated issues so that I can learn more about myself and others. She is helping me discover myself. She has great strategies for thinking through tricky problems without coming up with the solution herself; rather she guides me to coming up with a solution that I will be happy with.

Lorri’s very professional and kind! I haven’t had therapy before but she was very easy to talk to from the get go. I’ve always been nervous about being judged or talked down to, and she has been nothing but open & understanding. She asks questions and gets to the root of the problem, offering ideas and behaviors that I can benefit from. I feel really comfortable opening up to her and to have her help. If you are younger and struggling with needing therapy, I would definitely recommend Lorri!
