Therapy with Emily has addressed a lot of the problems I had with previous therapists. It's hard to find a therapist that is goal oriented, but that's exactly what we're doing here and I couldn't be happier!

More about Emily

  • 3 years' experience

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor who works in the state of Texas. As a therapist, I have experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, various types of trauma history, parenting obstacles, and other mental health struggles. I currently work with youth and adults in the foster care system and enjoy walking alongside those trying to sort through their past, cope within the present, and plan toward future goals. My journey in therapy has led me to work closely with youth and adults who have experienced physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect.

My therapeutic style is rooted in building a strong rapport with each client and meeting them where they are, without judgment. I am a firm believer in the power of hope and strive to instill this in every client I work with, helping them develop a stronger sense of self-awareness and self-growth. I believe every person deserves respect within a safe and healthy place to grapple with life's challenges. My approach is a combination of cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and strengths-based techniques tailored to fit each client's unique needs.

I am passionate about creating a supportive and nurturing environment for my clients. I value the importance of empathy, understanding, and genuine connection in the therapeutic process.

When you are ready, I am here to walk alongside you on this journey to a more fulfilling life. Let's take the first step together.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Emily has been very effective in our sessions. She has a very calm, caring and friendly manner that makes it easier to get to the heart of an issue. Once the central issue(s) becomes apparent, the strategies (question prompts, journaling, etc) she recommends are so worthwhile.
