Marty is an exceptional therapist, and a great person. She understands the complicated balance of empathy, kindness, and also challenging me on unhealthy habits and ideas I practice. I went through several providers on BetterHelp that were not a good fit, but Marty is the right provider for me! Anyone that works with her is in good hands!

My undergraduate Degree is in Physical Education/English from the University of Texas/Arlington. I taught High School English and coached women's Volleyball, Basketball, Track and Cross Country before completing my Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of Texas/Denton. I find that my teaching and coaching experience has greatly enhanced my skills as a counselor/therapist. I connect easily with people and gain their trust rather quickly and am able to teach them and motivate them to become their very best.
I have experience working with Military personnel and their family members as a Department of Defense Counselor and as a Military Family Life Counselor.
I have experience working with substance abuse having provided counseling for persons ordered to treatment by the courts.
I have been providing counseling services for over twenty seven years both in private practice and as a full time employee, first with Dallas County Probation, then Department of Defense, then MHN as a consultant with the Military community.
I have a very eclectic approach to therapy. I have to see what the client resonates with then offer that for them. I believe every person deserves to be safe and happy and i give my very best to help them achieve this.
Because I have done a lot of trauma work i do a lot of work around the inner child. When you are raised in a dysfunctional homeor have experienced abuse and/or trauma the inner child, the keeper of the feelings often shows up to add a wrinkle to your present life. It is necessary to connect with the inner child and do some healing work in order to be happy in your present life. Sometimes it is hard but the end result is a completely happy person, comfortable in their own skin and in control of their emotions.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

We’ve only had two sessions together but so far Marty has been very helpful and has given me some good productive homework to work on in between sessions that I find have been helping me a lot.
Marty has been very helpful and brought much insight into my experiences. I highly recommended working with her. I look forward to our continued work together.
Marty and I have just begun our journey together, but I am very much looking forward to growing with her to support me
Marty does a great job listening and helping you get to the heart of the matter. She suggests tools and resources she thinks will be beneficial and then suggests space and time for you to get through them. I would highly recommend her.
I think she is smart and wise. I have only completed 1 session but I learned a lot and she was most helpful. I look forward to my next session with Marty!
Really appreciated her willingness to listen and understand my challenges. Her approach at allowing me to express myself really made my sessions very worthwhile. Am very glad we were able to work together.
I feel like Martha really listens to me and provides practical and actionable items.
We didn’t water anytime! We’re dove into our first meeting as if we have been working together for a while now. Martha is kind, to the point, and can see right through the surface. She helps me to identify areas that I couldn’t or didn’t want to see. Martha is working with me on inner child work because that is what she identified needed love and funny enough, that’s exactly what I wanted to work on going into therapy. I just was too scared to say it. I respect and trust Martha’s ability to help me through self discovery.
