Full disclosure, I am terrible at placing reviews. Lol. Erin has been friendly and professional during all of our meetings. Highly empathic and effective in helping me see different points of view and find new methods of dealing with…well. Life.. Very easy to talk to her.

Erin McGuire is excellent! I tried therapy once before and it accomplished nothing because I was not a good match with my therapist. Erin listens, analyzes, formulates plans for moving through the future, tells the truth (doesn't try to spare my feelings, which is important), although it's not like she ever hurts my feelings. She is actively engaged in all of our sessions. She does not know how to "phone it in". I highly recommend her to anyone!

More about Erin

  • 4 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW

I'm Erin, I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and therapist with 4 years experience providing direct care therapy, plus 10 years in the field. Also, 10 plus years experience as a client of therapy myself. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients, and have the most experience in trauma work, depression, anxiety, self-image, relationship and family issues, grief work, and LBGTQ+ concerns. I also have experience working with criminal justice involved individuals, as well as victims and perpetrators of domestic violence and familial abuse.

My therapy style is very relaxed and client-centered, focusing on the client's goals and what works for them. I think it's important to have an honest, relaxed, and genuine therapeutic relationship so that there is an easy place to land when discussing more difficult concerns. I tailor therapy very much to the person that I'm working with, mainly using cognitive-behavioral, ACT, dialectical-behavioral, and existential approaches in therapy. I am EMDR certified, and very comfortable working with all kinds of trauma. My favorite part of being a therapist is watching my clients really begin to trust themselves, and begin living for themselves and their values and goals, and supporting them as the world opens up for them. When I am not doing therapy, I am knitting, reading, doing cross stitch, watching horror movies, playing video and board games, and hiking.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions. Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

It is difficult to express with words my gratitude for Erin. I never had therapy before and this has been a very positive and impactful experience. During these four months of therapy sessions, Erin has taught me to look at things differently and gave me very meaningful insights about myself and my thought process. I especially value her emotional support and kindness, as well as her understanding of feelings and the tools she provided to help me work on myself and feel better. I am forever grateful, and so will you if you work with her.

I have loved the interactions with Erin so far. I have appreciated how down to earth and easy-going her style is. It feels like a friend who gives really good advice. I’ve had other therapists and she recognized some of my thinking patterns other therapists took months to notice. Really supportive.

Reviewed March 2022

Erin is very intelligent and she is a problem solver. She is good at listening and making me challenge myself and understand the ways in which I can change and helps me understand how I can make those changes. It seems like she genuinely believes she can help me improve and she already has in a lot of ways.
