Welcome! My name is Yianna and I am a bilingual (Greek\ English) licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Washington DC, and a licensed mental health counselor (LHMC) in Florida.
A few fun facts about me:
1- I grew up in a Big Fat Greek Family
2- I played soccer for over 16 years
3- I am a New Kids on the Block Fan
I have over 10 years’ experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in a variety of settings including ACT team clinical outreach, acute inpatient\ intensive outpatient settings and ER crisis assessments. Although that seems like a mouthful, it simply means that I have had experience working with a broad range and severity of clinical issues. I have worked with all age ranges of clients from children to the geriatric population. Currently I am working as a lead clinical assessor for crisis psychiatric evaluations. I also facilitate weekly group therapy for the adolescent population aging 10-17.
My therapeutic approach is primarily person-centered, multicultural and solution focused integrated approach. This means I begin where you are and tailor the treatment approach to your needs while being compassionate to how your individual cultural identities and lifestyle choices affects your experience.
I would describe my style as warm, supportive and compassionate, and I am ready to help you tackle your struggle head-on. Collaboration is important - together we can work on establishing concrete goals and steps for you to help overcome your current obstacles. I believe in taking time and working on wellness slowly, holistically, and consistently. Just as physical health takes time and consistency, so does mental health. I look forward to helping and guiding you in any way I can!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
