  • LCSW

I have held a Masters in Social Work since 2001; I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2016. I am currently in the dissertation phase of obtaining my PhD in Psychology, Health Science.

I have worked with individuals with a wide range of concerns; depression, anxiety, various illnesses, grief and loss concerns and end of life challenges for individuals and their loved ones.

I believe in the positive regard for all. My approach is client-centered and solution-focused. I believe in tailoring a treatment plan to meet an individual's specifically unique concerns.

I have a judgement-free practice. I am here to assist an individual to better cope and manage their challenges. If you are ready to make deliberate efforts to improve your circumstance, my role is to encourage and applaud that effort in a healthy and productive way.

I look forward to working with you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Allen Gholston responds in a timely manner to all questions, is open and accepting of all lifestyles and identities, and is compassionate towards their patients and their problems. Gholston's approach towards treating patients is oriented towards mindfulness, patient accountability in helping themselves with advice received through therapy, as well as general Cognitive Behavioral Therapy style treatment. Overall, they are an open minded, accepting, and caring therapist whom I would recommend to anyone who fits their treatment style and areas of expertise.

Allen has been a great therapist and always very responsive and proactive. Platform is great, this is so much better than traditional therapy. Wish my insurance dollars could go to you.

Reviewed August 2022

Patient, understanding, relatable. Some therapist feel like robots in human skin who were programmed to replicate empathy, this is not the case here. Authentically empathetic without being “too much”. Actionable suggestions that feel inspiring without the taste of false hope.

Allen is thoughtful and listens. He checks in throughout the week. He understands what he is trailing about and encourages me to participate in my own growth.

Reviewed June 2022

He is very helpful and messages me even when we aren't having sessions.

Reviewed June 2022

Professional without being cold, insightful without being aloof, helpful without being coddling, and most importantly attentive and supportive. He possesses the rare (in my opinion) capacity to know when it is best to speak and when it is best to listen. I would encourage anyone considering him to be your therapist to know he won't just listen to your pain, he actively support you in trying to be better. He helped me be at peace with making some serious life altering decisions and that is something I will always be thankful for.

Allen is a patient listener who is great at offering a perspective outside your own that empowers you and allows you to work toward the best version of yourself...
