I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience and have a wide range of experiences. I have worked with children and adults who have experienced trauma; people who have depression and anxiety; and those who are having difficulty with adjusting to life changes, since the beginning of my career. Your physical/medical health can be important when dealing with your mental health, so I may incorporate information related to "Health and Wellness;" including medical status, nutrition, physical activity and more.
Whatever the reason you are seeking therapy, it is important that you feel comfortable, supported by your therapist, and heard. These are reasons why I subscribe to a client centered approach. I use trauma informed and strength-based approaches, and draw from various perspectives including Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Developmental, and Somatic therapies.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Thank you Peggy, you have been so helpful to me.
She is doing a great job
I highly recommend Peggy! She takes the time to walk you through why and how you can implement the therapy into your daily life. She also isn’t afraid to challenge my beliefs that are toxic and does so in an extremely respectful kind way. Wish I met her 2 years ago. 10/10 would book again.
Peggy is amazing! She takes the time to listen and understand. I had a very difficult time finding this in Connecticut and was a bout to give up. She's the first therapist in a long time I feel comfortable opening up too because she's listening, she cares, she takes the time to sync our therapy so it's person centered and not a one size fits all approach. I only wish I had found her sooner.
Peggy gets it. I’ve never had a therapist get it from day one. She is amazing. She provides me with tons of helpful worksheets and relaxation techniques to get me through the day. She checks in on me and supports me and meets me where I’m at. Peggy is professional yet personal and caring. I have hope that I didn’t have before I started talking with her. I have the support that I was lacking and it feels great to be heard and validated.
I feel very lucky to have found Peggy Winsman. I have only met with her twice but I feel confident she will be very helpful.
I've been seeing Peggy for a few weeks now, but I feel as though I've been speaking with her for years. She is so open and understanding and seems to genuinely want to understand her patients/what their struggles are. She never claims to have all the answers and never tries to "fix" things with big, blanketed statements. Rather, she listens and takes things one step at a time, providing ample guidance along the way. On another note, I've never had such open communication with a therapist before. By this, I mean Peggy is quick and responsive with messages on the Betterhelp website. She shares helpful readings and worksheets. And--maybe most importantly--she remembers you and the things you spoke about. If she's uncertain about a detail, she asks about it, rather than jumping to conclusions. Overall, it's been a pleasure seeing Peggy, and I always look forward to our sessions, something that has not always been the case with me and therapy.
We’re off to a great start and I look forward to working together. I left my first session with useful tools for immediate help and she is very responsive to my questions and concerns. I feel validated, like there’s hope. We’ll see.
Peggy is incredible. We connected instantly and have a great relationship in the short time I have worked with her. In past experiences with in-person therapy it was more difficult to build that trust but with the convenience of this platform and the flexibility offered it takes one more bit of anxiety out of the equation
Peggy Winsman is my Guardian Angel. In a very short time, Peggy has been my advocate and main source of support for too much trauma endured since a child. She believed in me when I did not & had carried I me with such grace, compassion, and incredibly spot on diagnosis’s. Peggy is a gift to all! ❤️
Peggy is a wonderful therapist. She helped me out tremendously. She really listens.. I highly recommend her.
Peggy is an incredible listener and offered practical solutions and tips. I truly enjoy talking to her and felt comfortable from our very first session!
Peggy has been working very thorough on me. Covering all bases and even back tracking to things I don't think are important or of relevance. Yet she digs it out and for the first time in years I feel like I uncovered something that I didn't know was going on. I would love to continue working with Peggy. And look forward to our sessions
Peggy is the best therapist I have had in 10 years, her knowledge and kind approach is a God send.
Before I started working with Peggy, my life felt shattered. Now, I have a safe space to work through my trauma and heal. Peggy walks with me at my pace and is no nonsense, providing me with the support I didn't realize had been so absent from my life. She has been a true gift to my life and I'm so thankful she's with me on this journey of healing.
Peggy is very caring yet professional. I’ve verbally been mean to her out of frustration and she still makes suggestions and shows support. She’ll reach out to me during the week to see how I’m doing, has taken the time to chat when I’m really down in between sessions. Has sent worksheets pertaining to my situations. I’d recommend her personally to anyone I know that needed a counselor.
Greater listener and communicator. Is willing to do the work required to help you. Very knowledgeable.
After talking to Peggy at our first session I am enthusiastic to get started and think we will work together nicely
Peggy is thoughtful, caring and just a wonderful person. I am so incredibly thankful that I have my sessions with her. She’s helped/helping me learn more about my personality and addressing stress in my relationship and in life. Peggy truly has been life changing for me.
Peggy shows up on time, listens intently, recalls what we’ve been talking about. She is my biggest supporter! She monitors posts made by me in between & willing to help in between sessions. She is firm but companionate! I’d strongly recommend her to others. She gets 5 stars!
She’s so helpful with my anxiety. She listens, gives productive exercises to stop unhealthy thoughts and she makes me feel less alone about my mental health struggles.
After two sessions I feel that Peggy has ensured that we stayed on topic but also gave me plenty of room to ramble and have spontaneous thoughts. She’s very observant and attentive to how I’m reacting to what’s being talked about. And she is genuine I don’t know another way to say it but she has an interest in battering other peoples lives and I’m happy to have found her.
