Counseling may be viewed as a process in which one engages in order to cope with life’s situations or to find a level of contentment which enables them to function. With the guidance of a skilled therapist, counseling allows one to examine and explore their options to solve problems or to assist in various phases of their life’s journey.
Hello! I am Dr. Gwendolyn Wilson. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Alabama. I hold a Doctoral Degree in School Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counseling. My experience in counseling is varied, extensive, and spans over 40 years.
I have a genuine desire to offer a safe and confidential environment by which the client will be comfortable and feel valued and respected as a person. It is with great care that I provide a listening ear and an open heart to assist my clients in developing the skills necessary to move forward. During my sessions, Clients are free to express themselves in a non-judgmental environment.
Over the years, I have aided clients who experienced issues with ADHD, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, misbehavior, relationships, and other mental health problems. My training in counseling also includes assisting parents in coping and nourishing children who are mentally challenged, hyperactive, and/or behaviorally disruptive.
So, if you are considering counseling, you couldn’t have made a better choice. Now, let’s get started.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
