Hello my name is Erica Copeland and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a License Chemical Dependency Counselor in the state of Texas. I have been working in the counseling field for a little over 10 years. I have worked with adults of all ages throughout my career. I also have experience working with couples and families. I have many years of experience working with clients in the LBGTQ+ community. I have experience in helping clients with various issues including depression, stress, anxiety, addiction, trauma and abuse, motivation, self-esteem, and confidence. My main philosophy when it comes to working with clients is I believe that you are the expert of your story. I believe that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you and I am here to help support and guide you when needed.
My counseling style is pretty laid back. I have been described as supportive, caring, and compassionate, with a pretty good sense of humor. I like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles. I'm here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now, and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment. I use counseling techniques from several different counseling theories including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Reality Therapy, Adlerian Therapy and Gestalt Therapy.
I am available to do video, chat, and phone sessions. Please look at my schedule to see my availability and to schedule the type of session that works best for you. I also try to answer messages within 24 hours of receiving them. Should you feel in need of urgent help or that you are in crisis at any time during our work together; please call 1-800-273-TALK 24 hours a day; or 911. This forum does not provide any type of emergency services, so I want to be sure you know who to contact if you need immediate help.
I look forward to working with you and congratulations on taking this first important step to caring for yourself and your mental health.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
