He is very professional, and sheds light on issues I couldn’t articulate precisely. I feel he shifted my perspective on certain things which will help me to move forward in my life in a positive manner. Would highly recommend

James has been excellent at listening, and helped me help myself. Providing guidance and advice where needed but allowing me time to process my own thoughts and make come to my own realisations has been more impactful than previously experienced with other people.

My name is James Hodgeon I’m a qualified therapeutic Person-Centred counsellor. This humanistic approach works with the way that people perceive themselves raising awareness and understanding of the person. Working in the here and now focusing on the person as a whole facilitating and allowing the person to achieve greater independence and skills to cope with current and future issues.

Person Centred counselling is a theory which can help people work through life issues such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, life transitions, anger, to name a few.

I have over 30 years of experience working with mental health and emotional well-being, supporting people with life events that can be difficult to talk to family members and friends about.

My aim is to provide a safe supportive relationship, a calm and confidential space for you to feel heard and understood. Being non-judgemental in my attitude, my congruent manner and empathic understanding will provide the conditions necessary for change to occur as we work together to help you have a more fulfilling life.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, MBACP. I trained at Leeds and Salford University’s for my graduate and post graduate training.

I receive monthly supervision in line with the ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, have full professional indemnity insurance and DBS checked.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Only had 2 sessions so far, but Ive found James to be very easy to talk to. I like the fact that he is older and more experienced, not only as a therapist, but with life in general.
