It feels like each session with Carol is full of insights that have me saying “oooh yeeeah, that’s what was going on there.” She is kind, caring, knows when to talk and when to listen and truly seems to understand her client’s needs and desires.

I have gone through a variety of therapy formats over the years - from psychoanalysis four times per week to Jungian dream interpretation. Working in an online format has for me been significantly more effective. I get to choose when and where I have my appointments (usually in my car overlooking the ocean) and opting for voice-only calls mean Freud’s vision of the invisible therapist has been realized a century later. Anyway. None of this would matter much if Carol Caveney wasn’t such a fantastic therapist. An intent listener, she gives thoughtful feedback and is able to detect hidden (and not so hidden) connections. She shares her insights in a calm and soothing manner and has - in just a few months - done wonders with my mental wellbeing. I reached out to BetterHelp because I had let a number of personal tragedies build up untreated. It left me anxious, bitter and resentful. With a combination of weekly calls with Carol and personal journal writing, I have cleaned these wounds out thoroughly (a very useful metaphor from Carol) and made me a happier person….a word, a concept and state of mind I avoided for too long.

As a qualified therapeutic counsellor, I’m trained in talk therapy techniques. If you are experiencing anxiety or depression, feeling distressed by difficult events, struggling to cope with situations in your personal or work life, or if you’re finding it hard to move forward with grief or loss, I can help.

I practice counselling in an integrative way. This means I am trained in a number of different therapeutic approaches, and will combine these in the way which best suits you. This approach acknowledges you as a unique individual and allows me to be more flexible and responsive to your needs.

Regardless of what brings you to counselling - whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety or struggling with life events - several principles underpin approach. I will always be honest and open with you. I will always treat you as the expert on you - and never assume I know better. I will not judge, no matter what you bring to session. I will work to ensure you always feel supported, heard and safe to work through whatever comes up.

The goal of therapy is not that you receive advice or a ‘fix’ for your struggles. It is that you gain confidence in your own abilities, build autonomy, feel better equipped to cope with the challenges life presents, and own your own unique story.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Carol is great. Besides the therapy session, she is thoughtful and makes sure to check in at the end of a session to make sure I’ll be ok to go on, into my day.

Carol has been absolutely amazing. She helped me tackle some challenges in both my work life and my personal life. I have recommended her personally to at least 5 friends and have become a great proponent of therapy in general because of the noticeable differences and improvements I see in my life. Carol, you are the queen of therapy. You know what I want to say when I do not have the words to say it, you make me feel safe and secure and never feel judged. I always enjoy my sessions with you and have noticed since therapy that I am much more confident in myself.
