I can honestly say I am in awe at how much has come from just a couple of sessions so far. The understanding he delivers, the enlightenment to my confusion, and the support is so effective and workable and peaceful. It feels like this is what real therapy is about.

More about David

  • 7 years' experience
  • Male
  • BACP

My name is David Nia and I work for Lancashire police working with police officers and police staff, as a trauma therapist using EMDR and a PolyVagal approach.

The polyvagal approach focuses on calming the nervous system, alongside methods such as EMDR, in treating stress and trauma related symptoms in the quickest and most effective way.

I am EMDR qualified, as well as an integrated therapist, which means I use a range of techniques to treat issues based around stress, trauma, anxiety, depression and bereavement. In order for me to practice EMDR I have to be an accredited therapist with the BACP. This ensures both experience and quality of practice.

I currently use EMDR both face to face or online.

I am also a Relate qualified therapist, which means I also work with couples and families using relationship therapy. I also work together with my wife Rebecca Nia using conjoint couple therapy, where as a couple, we work with other couples offering therapy individually and together. This type of therapy has many advantages over individual couple therapy, in that each participant has an advocate in the session and when needed, someone of their own gender, who you may feel has a better understanding of your needs.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
