My name is Monique but known by most as Nikki. I am a licensed professional counselor in South Carolina with over 6 years of experience working as a therapist and life coach. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, life transitions, and reaching personal goals. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.
My therapy style is warm, interactive, and empowering. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, value, and compassion, and aim to remove stigmatizing labels. My approach combines biblically sound principles for a Christian counseling approach with cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotion focus therapy, narrative therapy, brief solution-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and the Gottman methods couple’s therapy.,. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you. I'm here to accompany you on your journey of renewing your vision, reclaiming your identity, and becoming who you were meant to be.
I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Great therapist!
Monique is compassionate and easy to talk to. She has a good understanding of what I am dealing with. She is helping me figure the best ways to overcome what I am going through.
Monique is there for me! Talking to her is my most anticipated call of the week.
Has good insight
Nikki has been absolutely amazing so far! I find myself nodding so much throughout our sessions because she always hits the nail on the head. She knows how to identify the pain points and speaks to them in a calm and reassuring manner. I’ve only had 2 sessions with her and I’m looking forward to more. She’s open, patient and attentive and I can’t wait to see the positive changes that will come about once I start putting her advice into practice. God bless you Nikki ❤️
This has been a great counseling experience so far and I intent to continue. Ms. Gilcrest gives me the perspective in a way I can receive it and understand it, so that I can be a better spouse myself and ultimately a better me. She's helped me to see why my spouse and I come into friction often during intense or less than positive conversations, and work on methods to reduce that friction.
excellent listening skills and work habits
Ms. “Nikki” Gilcrest is a phenomenal woman of God who is patient and attentive to your concerns. She doesn’t just respond to give an answer - she stops to digest and comprehend exactly what the nature of the concern is so that she may address the root. Additionally, if you’re faith-based, she incorporates scriptures in the appropriate places that you may takeaway. Our relationship is very much established and I’m grateful to be continuing therapy under her care and attention.
I am so grateful for Monique. She has helped me navigate this season of my life better than I could on my own. She is like my pathfinder. I know the path is there but she helps me get to it. :)

Right off the bat, on our first session together I've already started to see the ways in which I can improve and work towards, Ms. Gilcrest has helped me a lot.

I am very fortunate to have found Ms. Gilcrest. She's attentive, a great listener, and offers thoughtful suggestions. Her comforting presence makes opening up less stressful. I appreciate her.
Monique is a fantastic therapist. She has a unique way of making me feel supportive while gently "holding me to the fire" when I really need an encouraging push to move forward. She doesn't let me slack on myself, and I need that kind of support. It is amazing how she can bring these two approached together, and been so insightful. She gives me space, while also nudging me not to wallow in my indecision. She is great at cutting to the chase!
