More about Laura

  • 4 years' experience

My name is Laura and I am a fully qualified and insured integrative therapist and I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

Sometimes it can feel as if we have no one to listen to us, or that our own problems can feel too big or too small to be able to seek help. Quite often others may listen to respond without a real understanding about what is going on for you. Being able to talk to a trained counsellor gives you the opportunity to feel listened to and to be understood. Having trained in both Psychodynamic and Humanistic models, I incorporate both elements of these approaches in my work with clients. In my own private practice, I have also had the privilege in working with clients from the LGBTQ+ community from a range of differing age groups.

I have recently completed a certificate in adoption counselling, so I am able to support all those affected by adoption and special guardianship orders. Therefore, I am able to work therapeutically with birth parents, adoptive parents, adoptees, and others in the family who might have also been affected by issues of adoption. Such issues that have I have a keen interest in working with are attachment patterns/styles, shame, loss and personal identity – be it personal or cultural.

I am warm, empathic, and will offer you the confidential and safe space that you need to explore your issues as you embark on your own personal journey of gaining more understanding about yourself and your own needs. Our first session will enable us to think about how we can work together. It will be an opportunity for you to ask questions about how I work and whether my style of counselling suits you. Within this session, we can explore the main issues that you wish to work on and how therapy can help you in this process.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions. Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
