Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions. Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Dr. Atkins is wonderful. She respects my boundaries and gently challenges me if I need it. I recently took a break from therapy and went back to her, and she remembered every detail of our conversations down to my child’s name. She truly cares, and brings lots of calm and rationality to my life.

In the short time we have worked together, Dr. Atkins has been incredibly helpful. I have been to many therapists throughout my life and generally stopped because it did not seem beneficial. Dr. Atkins is amazing, and I am so glad I found her.

Reviewed November 2023

Dr. Atkins is the first therapist I’ve felt comfortable with in a long time. She is careful to listen, compassionate, inquisitive and very insightful. I look forward to continuing therapy with her. Thank you, Dr. Atkins, for all that you do.

Reviewed November 2023

Dr. Atkins has become my strongest ally. She listens to me and helps me determine my true concerns and issues and then offers me realistic methods of resolving them. I often have doubts about making important decisions and she helps me to think my options through clearly and from all perspectives until i am confident in my decisions and then we make a plan of action to follow through with them. She is very result driven in her method of therapy and that is what i find most helpful for me. I highly reccomend her as a therapist.

Reviewed March 2023

Dr. Atkins is very kind and always remembered the little details about me. She made me feel cared for!

Reviewed March 2023

After three weekly talks with Dr. Atkins, I have already noticed an improvement in my mental health. She genuinely listens and offers helpful coping mechanisms on each situation we have discussed. Not only is she very easy to talk to, but I have found that I open up freely and without reservations. This is the first time that I have tried therapy over the phone, and I now prefer it. It has been easier for me to share deep trauma and difficult stories on a phone call, or through text because I have a small degree of anonymity. Comparing this to my last therapist which was in office; I always felt somewhat "judged", based on her facial expressions. I don't have that issue with this method and feel that is quite a benefit. Dr. Atkins sends worksheets that help me process and work further on topics of discussion. I am also starting to use the journals to dig deeper. I highly recommend Better Help and have already purchased a month for my son.
