More about John

  • 20 years' experience

If you are looking for support for difficulties you are having, do feel able to contact me for a free consultation. I have over 20 years of experience working with people who are finding life difficult and by working with you we can work out what is going on in your life that is causing you to not have the life you want. I believe that we have all created ways of coping with life and often these ways of being don’t work anymore and are holding us back from the life we want.

We all create a comfort zone that we feel safe in and where life can have some certainty. Unfortunately, life isn’t very predictable and the more we want to do and the more we want others in our lives the more we need to work to expand this comfort zone which can be scary so we resist and stay doing what they have always done.

I think that the relationship between myself and my clients is key. It might be the first time you have had someone who can really listen to you and wants to understand who you are, and what you want from life.

For me, therapy is a collaborative, dynamic process where you the client can feel comfortable with and confident in me as the therapist, so that difficult subjects can be explored in safety. This means building a unique working partnership with each individual client.

In my 20 years of practice, I have met with hundreds of clients from all walks of life with a vast array of issues, all needing that safe relationship where they could share their deepest doubts and concerns. Together we have worked to bring understanding with compassion and curiosity we have worked to bring relief and a plan to untangle thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are no longer working.

Integrative in approach, I have continued to explore different therapeutic techniques to develop skills that I match to the specific needs and circumstances of each client. In my experience, one approach definitely does not 'fit all', so I will work with you to create a plan that will be tailored specifically you as an individual (or couple). You may only need a few sessions to get through a transient crisis, or you might be looking for something longer-term to tackle more deep-rooted issues. Whatever the focus, I try to keep consultations as free of jargon as possible.

I look forward to speaking you.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
