Hello, my name is Simon and I am a BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist in the UK. I have a MA in Integrative psychotherapy, a foundation degree in Counselling, and BA (Hons) degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

There are times in our lives when we need someone to talk to and support us to make positive changes in our lives when we are experiencing challenges. Sometimes life becomes difficult and when our thoughts and feelings begin to affect our well-being, functioning and relationships then it may be time to get some support.

My theoretical approach to counselling is primarily person-centred however my training enables me to utilise an integrative approach incorporating emotion-focused psychotherapy, meta-cognition and cognitive behavioural techniques. This enables the offering of both coping strategies and process work to resolve the underlying root issue.

As your counsellor, I will offer you an accepting and non-judgemental relationship whatever you bring to your counselling sessions. I will be open and honest about myself as we work and together we can aim to find meaning for your emotions, thoughts and feelings. I aim to promote self-acceptance, understanding and self-discovery.

As well as my private practice, I work in a hospice with adults and children experiencing bereavement, pre-bereavement and loss. I have worked across various community settings including working at counselling centres who focus on anxiety and depressive conditions.

During my career I have worked with many clients, all of whom have had their own unique story, covering a variety of different client issues. These include:

Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Relationship issues, self-esteem and confidence issues, Physical, emotional or sexual abuse, Phobias, Family issues, Bereavement and pre-bereavement, Meaning and fulfilment, Loneliness and isolation, Guilt, Shame, Work and Career issues.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
