More about Carlene

  • 22 years' experience
  • Female
  • LMHC

I am licensed in Florida with 22+ years of clinical experience helping clients with a variety of issues including stress and anxiety, motivation, self-esteem, and confidence, career difficulties, & coping with life changes in general.

In addition to clinical practice, I am also a counselor educator at a state university teaching and mentoring graduate students in clinical mental health counseling from a holistic/integrative health perspective. My specialty of practice is incorporating spirituality, creativity, animals and nature in healthcare, especially mental health care. Exercise, nutrition, time in nature and authentic relationships are 'medicine' just as much as traditional prescription medications.

For me the best metaphor for therapy is that the psyche is a vast natural forest, the client is an explorer to find themself, and the therapist is a trail guide. You would not want to go into a wilderness without an experienced trail guide, would you? Likewise, choosing a therapist that has both done her own work with the modalities and approaches offered to you and seasoned experience helping others do the same can make the process more enjoyable and effective.

I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts, feelings and experiences can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I admire you for taking the steps you have already, and I am here to support you in that process moving forward.

Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
