More about David

I am licensed in North Carolina with four years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with depression, stress and anxiety, relationship issues, and coping with grief and loss.

I view life as a journey, and counseling as help and guidance in a portion of that journey when it becomes difficult. All of our journeys at some point will come to a place of hardship, pain, or sorrow. Counseling can provide both healing and the ability to overcome those obstacles that are holding you back from living your best life.

My counseling style would best be described as eclectic. I use cognitive behavioral therapy because of its proactive nature, but also use interventions from other modalities. The most effective counseling to me addresses both the cognitive mental piece and the emotional piece as well. In other words, I want my clients to be able to express themselves and release pent up emotions but also understand the possible causes creating the issues.

I believe the key to successful therapy is creating a safe environment that encourages openness and honesty and is free from judgment. I encourage my clients to express themselves without feeling as if they have to edit or filter their thoughts and feelings. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support and empower you in that journey.

On a personal note, I am a widowed and remarried father of two wonderful but challenging teens. My journey has had certainly had some hardships but has also been filled with more blessings than I can count. Thanks for taking time to read this, and if you feel we might work well together, then please reach out. Either way, I sincerely hope you find the peace, balance, and happiness that you deserve.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

It was my first therapy experience and David made it a positive and comfortable one. He created a calm atmosphere and helped me overcome the situation I was in. He shared examples from his own experience which made it easier for me to open up and fully embrace the process. He was super respectful and professional. I always had a feeling that I had a support system available to me in his face, which was a calming thought in this emotional period. I would gladly work with Dave again in the future.

David has been great so far in my short journey in therapy. From the start he made me feel very comfortable and he has a calm approach, which is great for someone who was quite nervous going into this. I look forward to continuing this with him.
