With Mark I got to understand certain currently behaviour patterns, how they connect to past traumatic experiences... Learned how to release trapped emotions... I feel that mark listened and able to create a space that I feel safe in to explore and express my traumatic experiences... Without any judgement.

More about Mark

  • 12 years' experience

  • BACP

I am a qualified psychotherapist based in the United Kingdom with over 12 years of direct counselling experience and over 17 years

of experience working with complex trauma. I am a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psycotherapy (BACP), which is the largest counselling body in the UK. I work as a social worker within adult mental health during the week days and am registered with Social Work England.

My work experience includes working with adults, young people, and children as young as aged 7. I have direct experience within financial services, residential child care, family outreach, children and families support and safeguarding, domestic violence, substance misuses and adult mental health. I have strong links with working alongside general practitioners, psychiatric and general hospitals, adult community mental health teams, child and adolescent mental health teams, educational settings and care providers.

My counselling experience includes helping people explore issues of alcohol dependency, substance misuse, family conflict, domestic violence, sexuality, depression, hopelessness, suicidal ideation, neurodivergence, complex trauma, addiction, abuse, extra familial harm, complex mental health, relationship problems, paranoid beliefs, grief, loss, difficult choices as well as other presenting problems.

Some of the areas that have stood out for me is helping a young lady trust me as a male counsellor by exploring her domestic violence, supporting a father understand and connect with his adopted son and to therapeutically hold a lady whose life was falling apart around her.

I am usually available in the evening, but can be flexible to meet your needs if you communicate your preferences. I am happy to provide short or long term counselling and will review with you on a regular basis. I have experience using classic face to face, less traditional walking therapy, video, telephone and instant messaging models of counselling.

I will be starting to add CBT and Hypnosis to my approaches towards the end of 2024 / beginning of 2025.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
