More about Julie

  • 3 years' experience

  • LPC

I am licensed in the state of Texas with three years of professional counseling experience. I have 30+ years of teaching and coaching. Therefore, the license does not indicate my abilities. I am also currently being trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing), a therapy that increases success in overcoming many problems including trauma, PTSD, and emotional dysregulation. Though still in training, I am allowed to use EMDR (according to the international board - EMDRIA). I will explain the therapy in detail to any client who is interested. However, that is not the only approach I use. My approach includes family systems, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, and solution focused therapies. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, depression, addictions, self harm, relationships, family conflicts, parenting and so much more. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming your challenges. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions. Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Have really enjoyed my interaction with Julie thus far. She has been able to get down to the root cause of my issues, but provide compassion and care to prioritize and triage the issues. She has provided a lot of work book exercises and books to help me on my journey to success. I find her to be competent, personable, adaptive, approachable and goal oriented.
