Rachel immediately identified what I couldn’t see. She was patient and listened. I felt like she somehow had peeped into my childhood….before I even gave her the details.

More about Rachel

Rachel Townes, MA, LPC, ACS, CCTP. Counseling is building relationships that produce strength based behaviors for healing and recovery. My preferred modalities are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and other therapies for addictions counseling, trauma-informed care, and family relational matters. I have an extensive experience in addressing matters of addiction, familial discord, trauma, serious mental illness, crisis intervention, and life stage conflicts.

The counselor is a guide and supports the client as they establish new behaviors and coping skills for stabilization and healing. The most prominent skill used in session is relationship building as the therapeutic alliance the vehicle for therapies such as DBT, trauma-focused counseling, domestic violence counseling, and addiction counseling.

Therapy is best experienced in a nonjudgmental environment in which the individual feels supported, yet challenged to initiate change behaviors. I seek to use warm and inviting tone and emotional postures to aid in rapport building and connectedness. Before the work can began the client must feel safe, comforted, and heard.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
