Colleen is my first therapist and she makes therapy something I look forward to every week. If I was able to speak with her everyday, I would. She makes me feel like a queen, and knows how to knock me off my high horse (in the best way, obviously), and she is helping me better understand myself more and more each session! I am so grateful for her and BetterHelp!

Hi, I’m Colleen, a Clinical Social Worker in Alabama. I've been a Social Work over 15 years and focused the last 5 years on providing direct mental health services. I feel I was pulled into the mental health field after working through my own troubled childhood and learning to manage my own Anxiety from that trauma.

I was blessed to find a caring and relatable therapist early on who stuck with me on my journey of mental freedom! I would like to be that therapist for you.

I've worked in nursing homes, home health, hospice, and outpatient mental health clinics. I try to understand the relationship between social system, culture, community, and an individual’s mental health when working with them.

My specialties include anxiety, grief/ bereavement, life transitions, and stress management.

My counseling style is structured and flexible. I am a honest and straight forward therapist. I want the best for my clients, but they have to want the best for themselves before change can happen.

I like to focus on identifying strengths and helping my clients maximize their strengths to overcome life obstacles.

I use evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, and solution focused therapy.

You can visit my website at www.liftmysoults.com for more information.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I have a therapist who I find to be energetic and approachable. Most importantly, she is committed to her clients, displaying this through active listening and thoughtful, caring interactions. She ensures that the needs of her clients are being met and that each session is productive, involving reflection, honesty, and forgiveness. She also consistently assigns "homework" to reinforce our work between sessions. I have really needed therapy at this particular time in my life, and my therapist is the perfect fit for me.

She definitely doesn’t make therapy feel clinical. Absolutely was comfortable from Day 1. Dr. Craig-Akinsanya listens and makes me feel heard without judgement in any of her words or body language. 10/10 would recommend ☺️
