More about Gemma

Hello, I am Gemma. I am credentialed in the UK with over 7 years of professional work experience in a counselling role. I have lots of experience in helping clients of different age ranges from children and young people to adults with issues around stress and anxiety, low mood, relationship issues, family conflicts, bereavement & trauma and abuse to name a few. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths within yourself that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can be very difficult and take a lot of courage. It can be quite scary and uncomfortable, but you should be very proud of yourself for wanting to work through your thoughts and feelings. My therapeutic approach is predominantly person centered, which allows you as a client to work through your thoughts and feelings in a safe and non judgmental space, but I can also work integratively to enhance the therapeutic experience which include using different forms of therapy and tools. I am available to use video, telephone and chat to communicate and I also regularly and actively respond to messages. Really looking forward to meeting you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Gemma is such a wonderful therapist. After having avoided therapy for many years of our fear/anxiety, I thought online sessions would be a nice way to dip my toe in the pool, but luckily Gemma made that even easier with her smiley greeting every time I spoke with her, her calming and reassuring tone and letting me talk, and then asking me important questions which made me look at things in a different way. She always took careful note of key topics and helped me by sending me useful information/worksheets/weekly ideas for e.g., little tasks for myself. She also always ensures to let you know and remind you that, as soon as she can, she'll get back to you if you just need to message her etc. If you're looking for an experienced, positive and reassuring therapist, I couldn't recommend her more highly enough.
