Hi, my name is Marly Ayala-Icaza, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, with initial training in the medical field. I have worked in Ecuador, France, and the USA where I resided since 2010. If this is your first time doing online therapy, I will guide you to make this a pleasant experience so you can enjoy the benefits. I have great experience in managing psychiatric patients with depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety among other behavioral issues but my main interest is in personality disorders. What I like the most about my job is helping people to have healthy lives and minds despite the difficult environments where they must cope. Exploring your environment, your strategies, the life quality, and even the medical issues impacting your life are important activities in which we will engage during therapy. A big part of your success is based on your commitment and motivation so please count on me to coach you also in this endeavor.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
