Hi, my name is Anna and I’m a qualified counsellor registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have had over 15 years of supporting individuals facing adversity which has included as an adult Social Worker for 10 years. I have paralleled my practical work experience with academic learning which has included completing a BSc in Psychology, MSc in Forensic Psychology and an MA in Social Work and specific counselling training; Counselling Skills level, 2, 3 and 4.

Over recent years I have counselled individuals who are affected by cancer including end of life clients, those in caring roles and rediscovering identity after illness. I have also supported women affected by menopause and related loss of self-esteem, confidence etc. I believe both my work experience, training and academic studies have given me greater insight into people facing difficulties, the impact adversity has on individuals, facilitating problem solving and the process of resilience and growth

I am trained as a person-centred counsellor which emphasises the importance you, the client, has in identifying problems, understanding these at a deeper level and finding potential solutions. To achieve the latter it is essential that you feel comfortable and we will aim to create a ‘safe’ working relationship where you feel empowered to explore challenges you are experiencing. Although, my main training is in person centred counselling I will utilise other theories and approaches where appropriate to assist in the therapeutic process i.e. cognitive behavioural therapy.

Thank you for taking the time to read a little more about my experience, background and general approach to counselling, please feel free to message me with any further questions.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions. Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
