More about Melinda

  • 6 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW

As a dedicated clinical social worker, I specialize in providing empathetic and personalized care to those facing various challenges such as stress and anxiety, substance abuse, trauma and abuse, motivation, self-esteem, confidence, depression, suicidal ideation, life changes, and amongst many more.

I bring a diverse range of experience and expertise to my practice, grounded in a holistic approach to mental health and well-being. With specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I offer evidence-based trauma therapy to help individuals process and heal from past experiences that may be impacting their present lives.

In addition to my work as an EMDR therapist, I am also a certified drug and alcohol counselor with a harm-reduction approach. Recognizing the complexities of addiction and substance use, I provide compassionate support and practical strategies to help clients reduce harm and make positive changes in their lives.

My clinical toolkit also includes behavioral therapy techniques for anxiety-related disorders, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), somatic practices and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). By addressing thought patterns, behaviors, and physiological responses, I assist clients in managing symptoms and reclaiming a sense of control over their lives.

Furthermore, my expertise extends to the realm of attachment and relationships, including both monogamous and open relationships. Through a combination of attachment theory and relational therapy approaches, I support individuals in navigating the complexities of intimate connections and fostering healthy, fulfilling relationships.

For clients struggling with trauma-related symptoms, I also offer Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), a structured and evidence-based approach to addressing traumatic memories and reducing distressing symptoms and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). By gradually approaching and processing traumatic experiences, clients can experience relief and reclaim a sense of safety and empowerment.

In all of my work, I prioritize a client-centered and feedback-informed approach to treatment. I believe in the importance of attending to individual needs, preferences, and strengths, and I regularly seek feedback from clients to ensure that our work together is collaborative, effective, and empowering.

My goal as a clinical social worker is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space for individuals to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. By integrating a variety of therapeutic modalities and approaches, I empower clients to heal, grow, and thrive on their unique journey towards mental health and well-being.

As a lifelong learner, I am dedicated to staying current with the latest research and best practices in the field of mental health. I regularly participate in trainings, workshops, and continuing education opportunities to expand my knowledge and enhance my clinical skills.

Above all, I am deeply honored to accompany individuals on their journey toward healing, growth, and self-discovery. It is my privilege to be a part of each client's story and to provide compassionate, client-centered care that honors their unique strengths and experiences.

A little bit about my education and career experience:

I received my MSW focusing on trauma & interpersonal violence. A double major, Bachelor of Science in Criminology & Criminal Justice, and Psychology. I have worked in various settings such as the criminal justice system, re-entry program, recovery homes, homeless shelter for youth, adults, and families, day treatment center (ages 11-19), with individual in treatment court, individuals under the psychiatric security review board, and regular outpatient as young as 11 and across the lifespan.
