ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Mildred (Millie) Majette Smith, and I will tell you a little about myself and the services I provide. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree, a Master of Science Dree and a Master of Social Work Degree. I have been a Psychotherapist for over 40 years. My passion to help others goes back to my time with The United Services Organizations(USO) as an Assistant Director in South Viet Nam. No, actually it was when I was around 6 years old. I was visiting my grandmother and there was a deaf person who also could not speak. I sat with him and used my fingers to communicate with him. Later when asked what I would do when I grew up, my daddy responded "she is going to be a Social Worker" and the rest is history. In Viet Nam, I had many duties but the most important to me was being an active listener as many of the soldiers began to experience difficulties in preparing for their return home, to their families and to the lives they left behind. I have also worked with clients on a wide rang of concerns including anxiety, depression, adjustments, PTSD, trauma , self esteem, mood instability, substance abuse, stress, additions, depression, family conflicts and relationship issues. I utilize such techniques as Emotional-Focused Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies. I realize that it might not be easy to reach out for support when we need it; therefore, I aim to help you feel heard and empowered as you make changes necessary for you to overcome any barriers preventing you from living your best life. I am empathetic and warm as I meet you where you are. I will provide you with the tools and strategies needed in defining your problems as you set your goals. as I create a therapeutic relationship with you and assist you in defining your problem, setting and achieving your goals. No matter what you are struggling with. I hope to help you increase your happiness and improve your life's satisfaction. I commend you for taking care of your mental health needs. Thank you for checking in with me, If you are ready to take a step further down that path of gaining a healthier and happier future, I am here to support you. Thank you for checking in with me.

Take care, and I hope to meet you soon!
