“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

— Anais Nin

Welcome! My name is Colleen Short (She/Her), and I am a dedicated therapist with a passion for supporting individuals, couples, and families on their journey to healing and growth. I am a transplant to East Texas from greater Seattle, WA. , where I spent most of my life in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. My journey has also taken me to Eugene, OR, New Orleans, LA, and Hawaii, all of which have enriched my perspective on culture, community, and the human experience.

As a therapist, I am committed to creating a nonjudgmental and safe space for everyone who walks through my door. I proudly support the LGBTQIA+ community and have extensive experience working with polyamorous individuals, couples, and families. I believe in the importance of meeting people where they are and honoring their unique paths.

My Approach:

My approach to therapy is person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. I specialize in helping individuals heal from trauma, particularly Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) and PTSD. I also provide support for those struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, relationship challenges, family transitions, and parenting concerns.

One of the primary therapeutic tools I use is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a powerful therapy that can be especially effective for those who tend to overthink, rationalize, or find themselves stuck in repetitive patterns despite their desire for change. Through EMDR, I aim to support you in breaking free from these cycles and find new ways of thinking, feeling, and experiencing life.
