Hello, and a warm welcome to you.

Taking the first step to seeking support can be a challenging one, and I commend you for already getting this far.

My name is Aimee Cooke and I am an Integrative Counsellor. This means I have a variety of knowledge, skills, techniques and tools that I can tailor to your specific needs. We are all different and require support in many different ways, and I commit to offering you a space in which we can work together to create safety, trust, and compassion.

I understand from both personal and professional experience that counselling is a challenging process. I feel it is important for us to collaboratively build a therapeutic relationship where you can begin to experience an open and safe environment. Within this, we can begin to raise awareness of your thoughts and feelings in order to bring about growth and self-compassion. I can and will listen to you without judgment, respond to you with kindness, and support you at a pace that feels safe and considerate to your needs. You are the expert of your own life, and I will be here to meet you where you are.

I have experience of supporting individuals with an array of challenges, including stress, anxiety and depression, as well as relationship issues, low self-esteem and confidence, and feeling a lack of purpose in life. I also have experience of working with individuals living with the effects of trauma.

I practice in accordance with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society's ethical framework, which can be found here https://ncps.com/about-us/code-of-ethics

Both myself and Better Help take your confidentiality very seriously, which means storing any information about you in strict confidence and alongside GDPR guidelines.

I look forward to getting to know you,

Aimee.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
