Sometimes life can present challenges that we don't know how to handle on our own, and it's okay to ask for help and support to navigate those challenges. It could be the sudden loss of a loved one, loss of a job, or difficulties handling day to day stress, I am here to help you through it. My name is Julia Barrett, and I am a licensed mental health counselor with more than 5 years experience helping people with a plethora of issues including depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and relationship issues. I obtained my undergraduate degree from CUNY York College and my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, I also completed some Marriage and family therapy courses at Hofstra University and have my CASAC-T certification to help people struggling with substance abuse and addiction issues.

My treatment approach varies, depending on the issues presented and treatment plan. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), client centered, narrative, humanistic and solution focused.

My goal for every client is to help you become the best version of yourself by teaching you the skills, and giving you the support that you need to overcome your challenges and gain confidence and motivation to accomplish what you would like to accomplish.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
