Hello, I'm Gemma, a qualified and experienced therapeutic practitioner dedicated to supporting individuals navigating life's challenges. Holding a degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Edge Hill University, I am a registered member (MBACP) of the BACP and an accredited member of the NCPS. My background includes valuable experience within the NHS, where I worked as an adult nurse and in CYP Therapeutic Social Prescribing, as well as several years supporting young people's mental health within education. Alongside my work here, I also run a private practice in the North West of England.

Many individuals I work with online are navigating challenges such as overwhelming emotions, intrusive thoughts, difficulties with trust, relationship issues, or anxiety that impacts their daily lives. If these themes resonate with you, I offer a person-centred approach to provide a safe and supportive space for exploration and growth.

My online therapy is centred around you, and in this therapeutic relationship, I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to direct you or provide answers, but rather to create a supportive online environment that empowers you to explore your own insights and solutions. I aim to create a genuine and empathic connection where you feel truly heard. Through our video, audio, or chat-based sessions, I will focus on actively listening to your concerns, reflecting your feelings and thoughts, and offering a space free from judgment. Together, we can explore the roots of these difficulties, develop healthy coping skills, and work towards greater calm, more fulfilling connections, and increased trust in yourself and others.

To further support your individual needs, I also draw upon various therapeutic approaches. This means that while our work will be rooted in the person-centred principles of empathy and genuine connection, I can also integrate specific techniques or perspectives from other models if they seem particularly helpful for what you're facing. For example, if you're struggling with specific anxiety patterns, we might explore some cognitive behavioural techniques (CBT) to identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts. Or, if past experiences are significantly impacting your present, we might gently explore those through an inner child lens. This flexibility allows me to tailor our sessions to your unique circumstances and provide you with the most effective support possible.

If you're seeking a collaborative approach to address these challenges, I invite you to connect.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
