More about Lisa

  • 20 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW

Having been licensed clinical social worker since 1994, I have worked in a variety of settings, including county mental health, as a Director of Mental Health for an area non-profit, as well as doing private practice. I have earned numerous awards through the years, including being named Woman of the Year by a governmental body in 2011 and Individual of the Year in 2012 by another public agency due to my advocacy work on women's mental health issues. Social work and access to mental health care is my passion, whether it is direct face-to-face work with individual clients or chairing collaborative endeavors with other community leaders to correct a social issue.

Being creative and a reader, if there is something cutting edge in treatment, I will hunt down this information. If I think someone knows something on a topic more than me, I will refer you to them. I believe in resource and referral as an effective intervention tool because I truly only want to help you achieve your own individual goals.

What I won't do is work harder than you. My job as a therapist is to "start where you are" but then gently nudge you towards your goals and past your ambivalence.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
